Invitation to an exhibition opening event - 'Common Ground'

Dear IPS members,

On the upcoming Thursday (after the annual conference), at 7:30 PM, the opening of the exhibition "Common Ground" will take place at the Israel Museum. Please see the attached invitation for the opening from Ahiad Ovadia.

The exhibition "Common Ground" brings together Israeli art and archaeology, showcasing contemporary Israeli art alongside various archaeological artifacts, many of which are being presented to the public for the first time. It visually demonstrates the long-standing influence of local archaeology on the world of Israeli art. Additionally, the exhibition will feature the newly discovered Neolithic mask from Pnei Hever, which was unearthed just a few years ago and has not yet been displayed to the public (courtesy of Archaeological Staff Officer of Judea and Samaria).

Furthermore, the exhibition "The Emperor and the Bees" is a collaborative effort between the Department of Design and the Department of Archaeology, in partnership with Slovak designer Tomáš Libertini. Alongside the famous bronze statue of Emperor Hadrian, which is permanently displayed in the museum, two wax sculptures of his head will be exhibited. These were created by approximately 100,000 bees in the museum's sculpture garden.

Thank you and hope to see you,
